We would like to make this site a destination for modelers who enjoy viewing fine models and learning how to build prototype models. The model press has featured many articles on prototype modeling in HO but rarely in 1/48th scale.

The Proto48 Modeler is aimed at increasing the awareness and desire to improve the quality and accuracy of 1/48th railroad model. Many modelers talk about the possibilities of adding lots of detail to O scale models but with the exception of O narrow gauge few actually do it. O scale modelers don't seem to be as aware of the correct details needed to model a particular prototype as their counterparts in HO. We would like to change this. More people will choose O scale and in particular Proto:48 if they know they can "get it right".

This section of the site presents an opportunity for you to contribute your efforts and be seen by a lot of modelers. Send in pictures of your models. Write a few captions and fire it in.

The Proto48 Modeler Tips sections will give you some suggestions on how to enhance you models or your skills. We would like to encourage you to contribute to this section as well. A quick note and a photo will be enough to generate a new Proto48 Modeler Tip.
